Fresh cases dipped to 1,804 in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, when at least 16 districts reported fewer than 25 cases each. The authorities stopped 11,553 child marriages in the last five years in Tamil Nadu, but in a mere 583 cases, or less than 5%, FIRs were filed under the Prohibition of Child Marriages Act, 2006, according to RTI data from the directorate of social welfare. Ahead of the monsoon, Greater Chennai Corporation will be repairing potholes across interior and bus route roads to ensure that there are no accidents amid the heavy showers.
