CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL READING DAY 2022 AT POONA COLLEGE


27th June 2022, Monday- The Library of Poona College was jam-packed with students attending the Institution Level Seminar on “Read to Lead” organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the Department of Library, and Information Science, and the Department of English and Postgraduate Centre.

Mrs. Kajal Chhatija, Executive Director of Gayatri Group of Schools and Founder of EduDrone – We Connect, was invited as a resource person. She highlighted the importance of reading and writing in leading one’s personal and professional life. Herself a creative writer who has three books to her credit, she explained the process of creative writing and elaborated on how reading and writing help one not only to live life meaningfully but also to make living. The student-participants were highly motivated to continue their interest in reading and writing. The seminar attracted an overwhelming response from the students. Under the able guidance of Prof. Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh Principal, Poona College, Dr. Shaikh Iqbal IQAC Coordinator, and Mr. Khan Moinuddin Vice-Principal (Arts), the seminar was coordinated successfully.

"Ms.Zeenat Merchant, Head, Department of English and Postgraduate Center, presented a report on the Department's co-curricular and extra-curricular activities at the state, national, and international levels." The seminar's theme was presented by Dr. Shaikh Muhammad Zuber A.M. (Coordinator and Librarian Department of Library and Information Science). Mr. Asif Khan, Mr. Zameer Sayyed, and Dr. Ashwini Purude assisted them. Miss. Nazneen Shikalgar, an FYBA student, recited a few verses from the Holy Quran, Miss. Masuma Khan, a student of SYBA introduced the keynote speaker and Miss. Reem Sayyed, a student of FYBA proposed the vote of thanks.
