Odisha Declares Half-Day Holiday For Schools, Colleges In View Of President Droupadi Murmu's Visit

Bhubaneshwar: President Droupadi Murmu is expected to travel to Odisha for two days starting on Thursday. While there, she would visit her old school and the Jagannath shrine in Puri in addition to attending other events. All offices, schools, and universities in the state capital region will be closed for a half-day vacation on this day, the state administration announced on Wednesday.

According to a notice released by the revenue and disaster management department, educational institutions and government buildings situated in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation region will be closed after 1 pm. Murmu, who is from the Rairangpur region of Odisha and lives in the Mayurbhanj district, which is dominated by tribes, will be making his first trip to the state since taking office on July 25.

When Murmu lands at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in this city, she will take an IAF chopper to Puri in accordance with the President's plan. She is expected to spend roughly an hour inside the pilgrim town's Shree Jagannath Temple, which dates back to the year 12th. Additionally, she will go to the Raj Bhavan. According to Shree Jagannath Temple Administration administrator (development) Ajay Jena, entry inside the temple would be restricted to pilgrims from 10.30 AM until the President returns. The President's security has been carefully planned out.

Murmu will attend a community reception at Raj Bhavan after departing back for Bhubaneswar in the afternoon. She is expected to go to her alma mater, the Government Girls' High School in Bhubaneswar, as well as Tapoban High School in Khandagiri on November 11.

In the early 1970s, the president attended that institute for classes 8 through 12. Prior to Murmu's arrival, the school and its hostel were renovated and furnished. Before departing for New Delhi on Friday, she also has appointments to launch a portal and introduce an Odia engineering textbook.
