New Delhi : New CBSE Chairman appointed, IAS Manoj Ahuja replaces IAS Anita Karwal
enior IAS officer Manoj Ahuja has been appointed as the new CBSE Chairman, replacing IAS Anita Karwal who was appointed as Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, in April last week.
The change was made as part of a major bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Centre on Tuesday.
Who is Manoj Ahuja? Manoj Ahuja, who will take over as the chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), is at present Special Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
Ahuja, is a 1990 batch IAS officer of Odisha cadre civil servant.
A statement from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Ministry of Personnel, said that Ahuja has been appointed in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to Government of India by temporarily upgrading the post. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is supervised by the Secretary, School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. This post went to the now-ex CBSE Chairperson IAS Anita Karwal in April.
The CBSE Chairperson is the Chief Executive of the Governing Body of CBSE and is assisted by fourteen Heads of Departments.
What challenges will the new CBSE Chairman face? The new CBSE Chairman will face considerable challenges, especially regarding declaring the CBSE board exam results as soon as possible after successful paper evaluation, and also oversee the carrying out of the pending 29 CBSE board exams for classes 10 and 12.
The CBSE paper evaluation started off on Sunday, May 10.
