My K12 Story, Journey So Far : Ms Sanjana Bakshi Datta, Principal of DAV RK Puram Delhi

Hi let me introduce myself

I am Sanjana born in upper middle class family and first child of my parents and my name was given by my Cousin. As a child I was quite child ,happy to learn new things and loved to go to school. My early schooling was in Kuwait and I joined back in India in class 5.

My hindi is not that good as I started studying it in class 5 and what ever I know I give credit to my mother who taught me hindi in class 5 and made me pass exams in Hindi till class 10. I shared this to tell you that everyone is not perfect ,we must learn to embrace our weakness.


I always believed that what we do today good or bad will return to us in one form or other. I used to work hard and be in top three rankers always in school but unfortunately never got chance to go on stage and receive award of my hard work ( because when ever annual function was held I had some exam of my next higher grade ).


Whenever my result was out (of any exam ) I used to look at my parents face if they smiled it means I secured good marks otherwise no. My father used to distribute sweets in his office to share my excellent result. My mother used to say work hard so that once you get good job you can enjoy your life and always be sincere to your work. At home front she guided me that girl must know all house hold chores - stitching knitting sewing ironing and cooking so that she can do if need be in life. As my parents used to enjoy my achievements and accomplishments ( this gesture taught me to enjoy the achievements of our loved ones which today we are forgetting )


My qualification MPhil chemistry ( was done in service ) MSc chemistry with organic specialisation BEd , in all degrees I was in one of the top three rankers. After my BEd I got Job in DAV Public School Pushpanjali Enclave Pitampura Delhi as TGT chem. I was young and enthusiastic so used to go in class with full positive energy and teach kids taking examples from surroundings. I used to love company of kids so used find tricks to make chemistry more fun loving and easy to study and understand If any child came to me with doubts I would solve his problem first and then do my other work. This passion for teaching made me favourite teacher.


My incharge and principal used to praise me and tagged me as bagpiper of school. This came as a gift for me that within one year I was promoted as PGT chemistry. I used to love my students and helped them to know themselves and life in better way and also guided them if they got trapped in a problem. As for me teaching did not mean to teach chemistry only but also values of life. Best compliment I got from my students was mam you teach us how to live life and how to enjoy your job. Later I was also given responsibility of Alumni Incharge.

As alumni incharge I interacted with alumni of school and organised alumni cricket. Matches, alumni meet, mentorship programs, invite alumni as judges and invite alumni as guest in school functions.


Linking to alumni gave me chance to meet people from different walks of life and know about different fields My hard work again paid off I was promoted as head of DAV Public School RK Puram Delhi. When I was leaving Pushpanjali my colleagues told me that we are blessed and thank God that our kids passed class Xii under your guidance ( I used to treat my students like my own kids and always guided them how to handle a problem in which they are trapped )Office staff said will miss a smiling face entering our office and bringing positivity( I believed that smiling face can help you get things done easily ). Class 4 staff blessed and thanked me for helping them monetarily whenever they needed -be it fees for their kids or books or dress ( purpose of sharing this is to tell you that I did this help with selfish motive that one day a messenger of God will help me if I am trapped in a problem ).


As I joined new branch I had new challenge - to know the staff and work with them.

A fear was in mind that will I be able to do justice but heart said that only mantra is be humane, listen to all, think and take decision in benefit of institution that what I am doing

In new branch I introduced new activities and shared what and where I want to see the school in future which the staff took positively Staff shared their ideas how to improve their department, which were implemented.


Here also I found that my mantra of life -Give respect and regard and allow people to share their creativity and you will get best output - worked


I believe that we must watch for both positive and negative we have and then work on brushing the positive points and try slowly to nullify negative points and work hard silently one day your work speak for you and same I am doing in this new school.

God has blessed us all with baggage of qualities it's for us to use them to the fullest and enjoy life and be happy with small accomplishments which one day will give a big positive output.
