PANAJI: Pramod Sawant, the chief minister of Goa, has stated that the proposed merger of state-run primary schools will only go forward after consulting with parents and educators. Mr. Sawant told students and teachers that the state government had no plans to close schools during the "Shiksha Pe Charcha" programme, which was held to raise awareness about the National Education Policy 2020.

According to the Chief Minister, there are times when kids from different classes are forced to study together in one classroom due to low student enrollment and a shortage of teachers. He claimed that the pairing of classes was unfair to the pupils.

According to Sawant, who is in charge of the education portfolio, the state government is only considering the prospect of a merger if it is in the best interests of the children. The chief minister also urged educators to work to boost enrollment in order to prevent school mergers.
