Kochin University was established in Kerala.

Originally known as the University of Cochin, theuniversity came into being in 1971 through an act of the Kerala Legislature that was the result of a campaign for postgraduate education in the state. It was reorganised into Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986.
