ISSF SHOOTING WORLD CUP: ABHISHEK VERMA WINS GOLD MEDAL

India’s Abhishek Verma won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the Shooting World Cup in Brazil late on Thursday night. Saurabh Chaudhary won the bronze medal. Ismail Kales of Turkey received a silver medal. Sanjeev Rajput won the silver medal in the Men’s 50m Rifle (3 Positions). With this, he qualified for the Tokyo Olympics the following year. Sanjeev is India’s eighth shooter to achieve the Olympic quota. Earlier, Anjum Moudgil, Apoorvi Chandela, Saurabh Chaudhary, Abhishek Verma, Divyansh Singh, Rahi Sarnobot and Manu Bhakar had achieved the Olympic quota.

India is in the first place in the points table with two gold, one silver, and one bronze. India’s young shooter Elveni Valarivan won the gold medal in the Women’s 10m air rifle event on the first day of the tournament.

ABHISHEK SCORED 244.2 AND SAURABH SCORED 221.9

Abhishek scored 244.2 in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol event. Saurabh got 221.9 marks. Ismail scored 234.1. Abhishek and Saurabh had won the Olympic quota in the qualifying event itself. In the qualification round, Saurabh was fourth with 584 points and Abhishek was fifth with 582 points. Gaurav Rana finished 44th with 571 points.

SANJEEV WAS 2.2 POINTS BEHIND PETAR GORŠA OF CROATIA

The 30-year-old Sanjeev scored 462.0 in the men’s 50-meter rifle (3 positions). He was 2.2 points behind first-placed Croatia’s Petar Gorša. Gorša won the gold medal by scoring 462.2 points. He also won the Olympic quota with this victory. Zhang Changhong of China received the bronze medal.
