Maharashtra : EduDrone- We CONNECT in association with On My Own Technology organised a session on leaders sharing their innovative ways engaging students.
Online learning is the future of education, and it is happening right now all around us. eLearning, mobile learning, distance education; all of these technologies are providing access to information and skills that were previously available only to a select few. Now, industry leaders, workforce development managers, and educators of all types are discovering the vast promise that eLearning holds for the future of training.
Considering the need of the hour, EduLeaders of School and Education Insdustry experts gathered on the platform of EduDrone- We CONNECT in association with On My Own Technology organised a session on leaders sharing their innovative ways engaging students. One of its kind session where principals, teachers and students came together to deliberate online learning experiences.
The session began with a warm welcome extended by Kajal Chhatija, Founder, EduDrone- WE CONNECT, Executive Director, Gayatri Group of Schools, further the session was moderated by Gaurav Kapoor. He welcomed the Co-Founder of On My Own Technology,
Mr. Shekhar Jain to share the innovative endeavours followed by their team and students in the field of Robotics and Coding. He took on a virtual tour of splendid work exhibited by the OMOTEC students and winning various awards and recognition, publishing research papers and making a mark in global competitions.
Then Mrs. Rita Taneja
Principal DPS, Jaipur was invited to share her school's team efforts to take school online. She displayed an exemplary example of team work as she led the discussion further speaking about the annual endeavours in the school. Mr. Ravi Dutt, Vice Principal, spoke about the academic and annual planning keeping students in the centre and spearheaded the online activities seamlessly.
Mr. Walter Joseph, IT Head, shared the screen and explained the Microsoft Teams set classrooms and evaluation process done through it. Ms. Sandhya Shringi, Pre-Primary and Primary Headmistress, with great pride took all on a virtual tour of held festivals, celebrations, hands on activities and teacher-student-parent engagement events.
Akshita and Priyanshu, students of Senior Secondary thanked the entire school community for hand holding and making each one comfortable and pro using online tools and techniques. Akshita talked about the various online events, ceremonies and competitions , Priyanshu briefed about the theory and practical aspects of the online classes and various types of assessments.
It was followed, Mrs. Dhara Mehta, Pre Primary Head, Rabindranath Tagore School of Excellence, Pune, addressed the educators with an insight on the PERMA model, a Theory of Well being and Happiness that celebrates Positive emotions that have gone right, be fully Engaged in the moment, strengthen Relationships and make Meaning and reflect on the learning and at the end master a new skill as Accomplishment, be it however small. She highlighted the virtual platforms and tools that can be integrated in schools for maximum learner participation and assessments. She concluded it with the goal setting GROW model for schools to set the Goals, check the Reality, see the Options and then design the Way forward. "Education is not just the learning of facts but training of the mind to think" - Albert Einstein.
Finally, Mr. Swami Nathan, Principal of Delhi Public School International, Kampala, addressed the session by basing the argument about importance of upgrading and re-skilling as 21st century educators progressing to become life long learners. He emphasised upon importance of technology and its usage to become better teachers in the current times by talking about three most important principles of online education. The first being learner engagement and the second stressed about, the importance and vital role of teacher and pupil interaction. Thirdly, to strive for social, cognitive and teaching presence. Further, he also discussed about role of content, pedagogy, assessment and its importance in online education. Online tools and strategises adapted and implemented at the school were also briefly discussed. Later, he drew the educators attention by sharing valuable inputs about the advantages and disadvantages of online education. The discussion was ended by putting forth the reality that blended mode is not only the current reality but also the future of education and thus reiterated the need for educators to be prepared for blended mode of teaching and learning.
Towards the end, Mrs. Chhatija, thanked everyone for the insightful session and culminated the session with an announcement by inviting educators to share their views @ edudroneeducation@gmail.com in 50 to 100 words in in her upcoming book, We are Leaders' -Expressions and Experiences.
