NEW DELHI: According to Raj Niwas officials on Saturday, Delhi Lt. Governor VK Saxena has cleared 126 principals' and deputy education officers' positions in city government-run schools that had expired due to them "standing empty" for more than two years.
Additionally, they added, VK Saxena has postponed the city's education department's request to eliminate 244 principal and deputy education officer positions because they had also been vacant for more than five years.
Lt. Governor Saxena has "approved the revival of 126 posts of principals, deputy education officers that had lapsed due to the fact that they were lying vacant for more than two years," according to officials. This will help the "woefully short-staffed" education department of the Delhi government, especially at the cutting-edge level.
According to a senior official, the L-G has requested that the education department submit an appropriate proposal for the elimination or creation of the positions of principal or deputy education officer "after getting the comprehensive study conducted from the AR department, as pointed out by the Services Department."
According to government regulations, positions that have been empty for more than two years and more than five years are both "deemed eliminated," according to officials.
According to the Directorate of Education, between 2013–14 and 2019, these 370 positions (126 deemed defunct posts and 244 deemed abolished posts) were expected to be filled by promotion in accordance with the Recruitment Rules.
