Delhi Government Schools To Soon Start Celebrating Students' Birthdays Under Happiness Curriculum

NEW DELHI: According to a letter from the Directorate of Education (DoE), birthday celebrations for pupils attending government schools in Delhi will now be incorporated into the Happiness curriculum. "A new pattern of celebrating birthdays of kids studying in the government schools of Delhi will be implemented," the circular stated. "This will help enhance thankfulness, motivation, and positive thinking inside schools." It stated that pupils would celebrate their birthdays on the following working day if they fell on a Sunday or a holiday.

Birthdays occurring during the break will be commemorated as a group on the first day that schools are open again, according to the circular. The Happiness Curriculum was introduced in 2018 with the goal of strengthening students' foundations for happiness and wellbeing through a daily 35-minute class taught in 1,030 government schools in the nation's capital from kindergarten through grade eight. The main goals of the curriculum are the development of self-awareness, expression, empathy, and relational comprehension.
