CISCE Class XII results out, 18 share top rank with 99.75%

With a score of 99.75%, 18 students across the country tied for the first rank in the CISCE Class XII examinations, the results of which were declared on Sunday.

This means these students missed out on a perfect 400/400 by just one mark in English and their best three subjects.

Like the CBSE, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), too, had conducted two board examinations for the 2021-22 academic year at the end of two semesters instead of one exam at the end of the year. However, unlike the CBSE, the CISCE decided to give equal weightage to marks of both semesters in the computation of the final results.

Upasana Mandi, a student of Smt Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane, who tied for the first rank, said though she was happy with her score, her focus was on her next step. “At this point, I am just getting ready for the next step, which is college admissions,” she said, adding that she wants to pursue something on the lines of microbiology and biotechnology.

Overall, 99.38% of the 96,940 candidates who had appeared in the exams have passed. Girls have recorded a slightly higher pass percentage of 99.52%, while boys have recorded 99.26%.

While all regions have achieved a pass percentage over 99%, the southern region has the highest success rate with a pass percentage of 99.81%.

The board had not conducted Class XII examinations last year because of the volatile Covid-19 situation and had devised an alternate assessment scheme, and 99.76% candidates had passed.
