New Delhi : Art-Integrated Exemplars Competition for Teachers of CBSE Affiliated Schools.
The National Policy of Education 2020 states: Art-Integration is a cross-curricular pedagogical approach that utilizes various aspects and forms of art and culture as the basis for experiencing the learning of concepts across subjects. As a part of the thrust on experiential learning, art-integrated education will be embedded in classroom transactions not only for creating joyful classrooms, but also for imbibing the Indian ethos through integration of Indian art and culture in the teaching and learning process at every level. This art-integrated approach will strengthen the linkages between education and culture. (Clause 4.7, NPE,2020). 2. As a pedagogical initiative, CBSE has introduced Art- Integrated Learning in all its affiliated schools vide Circular No. Acad-12/2019 dated 8th March 2019. The Board has also issued Guidelines on Art-Integrated Learning vide Circular No. Acad-22/2019 dated 18.04.2019 with an aim to facilitate teachers and principals for implementing Art Integrated Learning as a pedagogical tool for experiential and joyful learning in classroom situation as well as building a joyful learning environment in the school. The Art-Integration guidelines of the Board enlists various suggestive activities, projects, assignments and lesson plans and are available at – http://cbseacademic.nic.in/web_material/Manuals/Art_Integration.pdf 3. You may also recall that Competency Based Education (CBE) is the theme for the year 2020-21 and CBE can be implemented only through innovative and joyful experiential pedagogies such as Art-Integrated and Sport-Integrated Learning, Storytelling, etc. as these pedagogies promote reflection, critical thinking, creativity, initiation, self-direction and other 21st Century Skills and empower students with the competencies to understand, analyse, evaluate, interpret and innovate various real life situations. 4. Hence, keeping the above context in view, and, to motivate and encourage all our teachers to adopt and implement Art-Integrated Learning as a pedagogical tool, CBSE announces the first Art-Integrated Exemplar Competition for all Teachers of CBSE affiliated schools. The details are as follows: 4.1 The competition will be conducted from 14th October to 14th November 2020. Teachers can research, innovate and create unique exemplars and showcase their skills of creativity and innovation. 4.2 The exemplars can be prepared topic and subjectwise and submitted along with taxonomy as per the format given in annexure I. 4.3 Teachers can submit their exemplars through the link available on www.cbseacademic.nic.in and www.cbse.nic.in . 4.4. While preparing the exemplars, the following needs to be kept in mind: i. Exemplar must promote Experiential Learning. ii. Exemplar should enable opportunities for Hands-on experience. iii. Activity/ project given in the exemplar can be done collaboratively. iv. Activities given in the exemplar engage students in constructing and demonstrating their understanding and not memorizing. v. Exemplar shall enable students to think critically and innovatively to create something new. vi. Art form used in the exemplar shall connect the learner to other disciplines. vii. Connection is mutually reinforcing and not deliberate. viii. Exemplar must be inclusive. ix. At least one of the Activities planned in exemplar must be paired with the State and Union Territory as per the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ pairing given in annexure II. 5. The best exemplars of each subject and class will be showcased on CBSE website. 6. The winners will be awarded with an Online Certificate of Merit.
